The examination for the Stenographer post is conducted in two tiers. Tier 1 is an online examination, while Tier 2 is the Stenography Skill Test.

After shortlisting candidates based on the Computer Based Examination, they will be required to appear for the Skill Test in Stenography. During the skill test, candidates can choose between English or Hindi dictation, as per their preference mentioned in the online Application Form. For the Stenographer Grade 'C' post, the dictation will be given at a speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.), while for the Stenographer Grade 'D' post, the dictation speed will be 80 w.p.m. The candidates will transcribe the dictated matter on a computer.
